This is a combination tool with a top mounted lever to switch between carpets and bare floors. For bare floors a brush strip around the perimeter pops out to provide a soft, non-scratching brushing action. Notches along the front allow dirt to easily enter the nozzle. For carpets and rugs, the brush strip is recessed, allowing the channeled steel sole plate to contact the carpet, pulling air through the nap to clean it.

This attachment's elbow has two tabs which hold this nozzle more securely in the parking slots on the Miele S500i and S600i series canisters. It can be used instead of the SBD 265 combination tool which is basically the same except it has only one tab on the elbow.
