It would be wonderful if all pictures of ancestors were this genealogically informative! Here sits a sweet looking, elderly woman with a birthday cake giving her age and birth date! This is a picture of Elizabeth (Wanmaker) Miller, my great great grandmother, on her 87th birthday, May 1, 1914. She lived 4 more years after this birthday. Her husband was William Henry Garret Miller, whom she married on 15 August 1849 in Mahwah, Bergen County, New Jersey. William H.G. only lived until 14 January 1878. Elizabeth outlived him by 40 years, successfully raising eight known children, one of whom died young (Rachel), and one of whom never married. (Kate) Of her children - John Dawson Miller, Eleanor J., Katherine, Emma E., Richard Henry, Elsie L., Genevria, and Rachel A. - Richard Henry Miller is my great grandfather. Elizabeth lived about half of her life in Bergen County, New Jersey, and the second half in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey. She is a direct descendant of Johann Dietrich Wannemacher and Anna Kunigunda Kornmann, immigrant ancestors of this Wanamaker family from the Palatine in Germany. This is supposedly a different Wanamaker family from the one of store fame. Regardless, I am glad I have this picture to treasure, giving me some idea what the Wanamaker family looked like.
